Implantable Converter Defibrillators & Pacemakers
Pacemakers and defibrillators are designed to regulate a patients heart function. Pacemakers send electrical signals to start or regulate a slow heartbeat. Implantable converter defibrillators are slightly larger than pacemakers and are for patients at risk of potentially fatal ventricular arrhythmias. Defibrillators and pacemakers can be implanted at a cardiac catheterization lab or electrophysiology lab. The process can be completed with light sedation and local anesthetic. Patients are monitored in-hospital for a few days to ensure the device is working properly.

The TAVR Procedure
Heart valves regulate blood flow in and out of the heart, but sometimes age and other conditions narrow those valves to the point they need to be repaired or replaced. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive procedure to replace a damaged heart valve while leaving the old valve in place. TAVR is for patients who have been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis and is an alternative to open heart surgery for many patients.

Watchman
The Watchman is a device that is permanently implanted in the left atrial appendage of the heart to prevent blood clots from entering the bloodstream and potentially causing a stroke. During the procedure, the doctor inserts a delivery catheter into the body through a vein in the leg. The catheter is pushed through the bloodstream until it reaches the upper right chamber of the heart. After making a small hole between the two upper chambers of the heart, the doctor pushes the Watchman device through the delivery catheter into the left atrial appendage, where it opens up like an umbrella and is permanently implanted.
